Information on Otology and Auditory Conditions

Otology is that branch of medicine that deals with the structure, function and pathology of the ear. There are a number of diseases and conditions that affect the ear, some of which include:   Ménière's disease: This is a disorder of the inner ear that affects hearing and balance. Generally characterized by dizziness, this condition leads to the gradual and progressive hearing loss, mostly in one ear. This condition is often caused by an increase in volume and pressure of the endolymph of the inner ear.   Tinnitus: In this condition, individuals have the perception of sound inside the ear, when the sound does not actually exist. There is generally a high pitched hissing, humming, whining, buzzing or whistling sound.   Each of our hearing aids is designed keeping in mind the specific requirement of the individual condition.
